Kingscourt Harps AFC 4 - 5 Oldcastle Utd Afc
Oldcastle began their 2016 - 2017 season in dramatic fashion when they beat Premier division side Kingscourt Harps at the MSJ Stadium. The division two side took the lead when CJ Healys cross found Jason Scully unmarked at the back post and his right foot shot found the top corner of Harps net. Eleven minutes later the sides were level when Danny Hand took advantage of a defensive mix up to fire a left foot shot home. Both teams matched each other until half-time, bit the away side regained the lead again when a combination of Cj Healy & Michael Flood passes saw Lee Clarke fire a ferocious left foot drive past Farrelly in the fifty first minute. Kingscourt equalised three minutes later when Danny Hand once again showed his prowess around goal to fire home. Two minutes later Oldcastle took the lead when great work by Stephen Lawless & Cj Healy saw the later pass to Lee Clarke and his pass come shot found Jason Scully unmarked at the back post and the winger made no mistake from close range. Oldcastle pushed on and made it 4-2 with twenty minutes left when another great pass from Cj Healy found Jason Scully and he finished well completing his hat trick. The score was cut back a five minutes later when Danny Hand completed his own personal hat trick with a great finish. With ten minutes left Oldcastle regained their two goal advantage when CJ Healy passed to Michael Flood and his pass found Scully once again to make the score 5-3 and complete his tally of 4 goals. In the closing stage of the game Danny Hand crossed for Robbie Rowntree to tap in for 5-4 but the team from division two held on for a superb victory.
