Rossin Rovers 5 - 4 Oldcastle United

Oldcastle United lost out in this nine goal thriller when they at least deserved a draw. The home side took the lead in the thirteenth minute, a mistake in the back line allowed Dylan Maguire through on goal and he slotted it home. Three minutes later we drew level when a long ball from Keith Fitzsimons saw Rossin defender James Butler head back towards his own goal and Johnny Boylan reacted first to finish. Seven minutes before half time Garrett O Reilly gave us the lead when he took advantage of another Rossin mistake. Two minutes before half time Garrett O Reilly grabbed his second of the game when he turned his defender before firing a right foot shot past Berrill. Within a minute Rossin were awarded a penalty when our defence failed to deal with a ball, Fitzsimons had no choice but to take down the player in the box and Butler slotted home their second. Just after the hour mark a Tommy O Reilly free kick was saved and Garrett O Reilly showed his prowess in front of goal to score his third of the game. Two minutes later a Oldcastle mistake saw Dylan Maguire get Rossins third. Sloppy defending allowed Rossin a corner, and Francis Marry headed home at the back post to make it 4-4. With eight minutes left more sloppy defending saw substitute Danny Corry through on goal and the striker finished well to put Rossin 5-4 ahead. Sixty seconds later Oldcastle won a penalty when Tommy O Reilly was pulled back in the box, and Stephen Skelly saw his effort saved by Berrill. Oldcastle pushed for an equaliser but Rovers held on for the three points.
